“The defendant may proceed.” the cloaked figure said in a calm tone.
“Sheesh, finally...” Shirlu advanced in front of the high desk and gazed at the knights in front of him.
“First of all, yes, I know, you guys are super angry at me because I summoned this stupid thing we're doing to save a guy you think is the criminal you're looking for. But see the thing is… he's not!”
“And what proof do you have of that, Gourmet Blade?” the knight who had previously spoken said, his face and metallic attire bathed in the darkness of the room.
“Because, idiot, like I said during our fight earlier, I was traveling with him the whole time, and when we arrived at Blade Isle, we both went straight for the Blade Tower, we both fought against the Dalvyon that was destroying your stupid face, we both kicked his butt, and only then did you and your mates showed up to knock him out! What gives?! Oh, and did I mention that since I was with him all along, I can tell you that he never had the chance to wear this white shirt in your sketch! So unless he managed to clone himself while talking to me, there's no way it could be him! I mean seriously, how d'you even get the colors wrong in that thing?”
Anolk repressed an astonished gasp as a piece of his memory came back to his mind.
“Allow me answer that question with another question.” the knight said, crossing his arms. “Who else in Pugiland has the unknown ability to produce a shiny blade out of this… item?” he asked, showing off the Wind Ring. “Who else in Pugiland has the ability to inflate his opponents as a way to disable them? Who else in Pugiland has the ability to float around with his ears, even for a second, to avoid hits from our knights? You've traveled around Pugiland more than any of us, Gourmet Blade. So tell me. Aside the accused. Have you met anyone at all that share these abilities? Because if you haven't, who else can we accuse of the crimes already mentioned in my previous exposition?”
Shirlu fell silent for several seconds. “...Sorry for calling you stupid.” was his sole reply. “Because that's actually the part I'm trying to figure out.” He gazed at Anolk. “Dude? You've traveled around places outside Pugiland. More than even I did. So if you've met anyone who can use the Wind Ring like you can or use similar abilities, now's the chance to… y'know. Say it.”
A horrifying silence took place as every member of the small assembly locked their gaze on Anolk, who was staring at the ground, lost in thought. But just as a dilemma began to take place inside of his mind, a distant scream echoed in the room. Then, high above the room, a door burst opened, just as a beat up knight flew inside of the place, tumbled down a set of stairs and fell on the ground, right in front of the small assembly. They all gazed up, staring at a shadowy figure standing by the door stuck within the bright light of the day. A freakishly long claw was decorating its right arm, and the long bunny ears above its head almost touched the low ceiling above, giving the overall shape an ominous appearance.“Don't mind me, maggots.” Lilyacoo declared as slowly walking down the stairs, utterly unconcerned by the knights below unsheathing their swords. “I'm just a worried captain lookin' for my lost mates, and I just found 'em. So as long as you don't do anything to them, or anything to me...” she brought her claw to her mouth and licked one of its fingers, giving a menacing glare to the assembly of knights. “...Nobody else has to get hurt.”
“Hey Luna!” Shirlu exclaimed joyfully, waving in her direction. “Dunno how you managed to find us again...”“Used my Orb to amplify my hearing,” Lilyacoo rapidly explained, “so I literally followed the noise around the city to find this place underground.”
“...But I'm glad you did!” Shirlu continued. “We're kind of in a tight spot here, but I'm sure Anolk can figure this out. Right man?”
Despite his situation, Anolk let a small grin brighten his face. Lilyacoo had given him an idea.“Listen, everyone.” Anolk began, gazing at the knights in front of him. “I don't know if there's anyone else in Pugiland that can do what I can. But Shirlu is right in saying that it is my first time in coming in Blade Island.” Anolk pointed at Lilyacoo. “My Captain can also prove it. And the only reason why me and Shirlu rushed to the Balde Tower was to defeat that Dalvyon.”
“Which we did, by the way, y'all saw it!” Shirlu added.“But since I have no proof that I'm not the criminal who put your isle in such a crisis… Then just tell me what I can do to fix it!” Anolk declared with a determined gaze. “I'll do whatever I need to do to make sure nothing like this happens ever again! And then, I'll leave this place, and you won't have to deal with me anymore.” Anolk focused his eyes on the cloaked figure above everyone else in the room. “I'm not your villain.” he concluded. “But I want to be your hero!”
The room was once again bathed in silence. The knights of Blade Isle were staring at Anolk, astonished, unable to believe that the criminal they all believe they had caught could utter such bold words, and with such obvious spirit. Lilyacoo's claw promptly disappeared and she crossed her arms, a proud smirk stuck on the face. Shirlu was looking at the knights, as if taunting them to defy any of Anolk's words.
“Very well.” the cloaked judge finally said. “I judge the defendant… Guilty as charged, or at least temporarily. I hereby order the defendant to make up for his past mistakes by reaching for the Gate of the Abyss Plains and close it. Should the defendant survive his sentence and make it back to us, he shall be able to leave our home safe and sound.”
