I'm going to be working on my novel Flesh is the Way of the World!

Elevator Pitch
A horror/sci-fi novel about body horror, queerness, and the apocalypse. Chrissie is numb and detached, shuffled around by an impersonal foster care system following her parents' arrest. Lena would do anything for affection, having never been paid much attention by anybody. Ruth was forced to grow up too fast while caring for her disabled mother - only to be left without purpose by her tragic death. The three girls find themselves orbiting each other across six years, from adolescence to young adulthood, in relationships that heal and hurt in equal measure. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom falls into a surreal, body-warping apocalypse. As it happens, the fate of the world may well rest on Chrissie, Lena, and Ruth's ability to deal with their baggage.

For NovMo, I'm working on Act One of the story - which follows Chrissie and Lena, at about fifteen/sixteen years old. I'm not sure if 50k will take me to the end of it or not, but we'll see! :D

Day One

Aaaaand we are on track, with 1732 words and a very silly scene about the trials of not wanting to tell your crush that you had to poo in a bush! Nice little break in all the tragedy, lmao.

Oh I am excited about meeting Ruth (eventually) and how you are going to implement the time skips~ And how the ~flesh~ will factor into everything!

Wait... pooping in the bush? Omg. I am not sure if I want more details or not, lol.

Thank you!!!!! :D Ruth was originally introduced at the beginning too, and while I think the reshuffling will be better for the book overall I am spending so much of Act One going 'I miss Ruth :( when can I write Ruth :('

A very impulsive decision to run away into the woods was made. And now certain cold hard realities are setting in. (This is perhaps the most Fifteen Years Old they've been all book lmao)

Day Two

Still more-or-less exactly on track! Today was knackering - I'm also trying to blitz out another creative project with a deadline early in the month and I may have overdone it slightly. It's hard to slow down when I'm having so much fun, though - today and yesterday was all tense bubbling character drama and I am enjoying it so very much.
