well a poster board can be modified to be a shield of sorts. Just use it to knock down a zombie and run.

make sure that the pencil is long enough to go into the brain.

You can just tell your teachers that you couldn't do homework because you used all your pencils killing zombies and saving us all from a zombie apocalypse :D
