Drunken Confidence

[Verse]
So you’ve got yourself a gun.
Got yourself a reason to adjust.
I admit that I wasn’t perfect.
Apparently you didn’t get the memo.
Can you carry on. When everyone else has stopped?
Do you think that you are the One?
The will to survive.
The hate to arouse suspicion.
The power to end all things to come.

[Chorus]
Spare me your tired speech.
I’d rather take the bullet.
And I'll kiss it into sleep.
Spare me your treacherous misery.
We already saw it before.
When the snake raised its head and struck.
Go home.
Just go home.

[Verse]
Why do you think that you’re always right?
Born as a bastard. Die as a traitor.
You’ve planned it out from the beginning
Yet you lack the finale.
Entertain such thoughts as you will.
You’ll find no comfort.
No sympathy from me.
Hate me if you will.
I forgive you for your wretchedness.
Now find a grave and lie in it.
Perhaps someone will care then.
The coward’s way out.

[Bridge]
Kinda sad really.
He was such a nice young man.
Kinda sad really. His parents loved him.
If I could describe for you,
what exactly I feel.
This man was insane.
In the cage made of steel.
He found his resting place.
If I could describe for you.
What exactly I mean.
He never loved anyone.
He only loved pain.

Uh...sure thing. It might be a bit. I've got to work on the music first.

Poetry is my cheap means of transportation. By the end of the poem the reader should be in a different place from where he started. I would like him to be slightly disoriented at the end, like I drove him outside of town at night and dropped him off in a cornfield.
