Holding Onto Hope

Running endlessly in a hallway of confusion,
Seeking answers fading into unconsciousness.

The sun smiles today, hailing down brightness,
But I'm drifting into a dark illusion.
A herd of guilt gallops into a field of thoughts,
I find myself in a world of eternal fog.

Wandering blindly in the thick mist,
Hoping to open my eyes and spot an answer before me...

Angels of destruction sing in a theatre of ruins,
A discordant melody drowning me in a tearful sea.
Following an aimless path, still I never cried,
Because I know one day, the skies will be truly fine.

Walking in a field of scattered thoughts,
I wondered, what have I done wrong?

Wandering hopelessly in a meaningless world,
I hope to see another story unfurl...

Angels of destruction flee a sleeping realm,
A terrible melody singing throughtout the day.
Following an aimless dream, it turns into hell,
But I still believe the brightest morning will shine again.

Lost in a cruel, enveloping destiny,
Littered with pieces of untruthful feelings.

Watching a hollow, pointless world grow before me,
Pitiful visions race before my eyes.
Though difficult times remain, I pray while crying,
One day, in the distance,
The brightest sun will shine...forever.

Wow. That was absolutely beautiful. Your metaphors were really great and I particularly admired this line:

"A herd of guilt gallops into a field of thoughts".

Very original. Quippie likey! :D

Every time I’ve gotten feedback that was hard to take it was usually hard to take because there was truth in it and I didn’t like that (or didn’t want to receive it). That’s not to say all harsh feedback is good or that we should be harsh for harshness’ sake, but learning to absorb truth without letting it break your inner core/break you is a lifelong skill that keeps your mind elastic and open to learning.
