Background:

Waylon once lived in Amity! At the age of 11 (2 days after his 11th birthday actually), Waylon was walking alone until some Erudite members saw Waylon and kidnapped him. They took Waylon back to Erudite where Jeanine started experimenting and drugging him and other insane things. Waylon was in pain and when Jeaine wasn't looking, Waylon broke free and escaped the Erudite lab somehow. It took Waylon a couple of hours to get back home but once he got back, he found no one home. He waited in the abandoned house for 2 days before realizing his family was never coming back. He cried for a good 15 minutes before going to his old room and packed his small backpack with a flashlight butter knife, and an old picture of him when he was 7 smiling next to his mom and dad with a younger version of his sister. Waylon was alone and trying not to be caught by anyone and was factionless. One snowy night, Waylon froze underneath a bridge until a man named Four found Waylon all alone under a bridge. Four asked gruffly why he was underneath a bridge. Waylon told Four about what happened to him and how his family hasn't been home in days. When Waylon finished, Four realized Erudite was mostly the ones responsible for his family being gone. This means Erudite is probably looking for him. Four decided to take Waylon back to the Dauntless compound, but Four had to sneak him in there by going through an old area that led to the compound. Four and Waylon got back to Four's apartment and Four explained to Waylon that he must never leave the apartment cause if so, he will be caught and killed. Two years and a half after that, Waylon became a mature, quiet, kind, brave, selfless, and strong kid. He's good at fighting, shooting, and sparring. Waylon also learned Four's real name was Tobias. They comfort each other a lot. Now, Waylon does have depression, anxiety, and PTSD but Tobias tries his best to make sure Waylon's okay and safe.

Personality: Kind, mature, selfless, respectful, caring, sympathetic, quiet, brave, and strong

Past family: Waylon had a little sister named Rosy. Waylon had both his mom and dad, Pixie and Jim. His parents loved him but they were all a little stern with him when needed. His mom worked at a bakery while his dad worked alongside with Johanna

Abilities: Waylon can fight very well, he has a good accuracy with guns and throwing knives. Waylon is also good at teaching others new skills in fighting or shooting.

Looks: Waylon has a fire flame tattoo on his left arm that represents him and his new life strength. Waylon has green eyes, brown hair, and has white skin. Waylon is also really fast because of his skinny yet strong body. Tobias says Waylon looks like a younger version of himself but with thinner eyebrows and a more skinnier build. He wears black clothes and red and black gloves

Waylon's time in Amity: He's always been a good kid, but it was clear he wasn't meant for Amity. He was always loving adventure and getting into all sorts of crazy things, like Dauntless. It's clear Waylon was always made for Dauntless and he proved that whenever he was adopted by Tobias.

Why did Erudite kidnapped Waylon: For some strange reason, Erudite only went after Waylon. Waylon always blamed himself for being the cause of his family's death but he later found out that his mom and dad were spies and spied on Erudite. That's why Waylon was kidnapped. It was for revenge, but when Waylon broke out and escaped, Erudite finally just decided to kill his mom, dad, and little sister. Now, it might be dumb cause why would they just go for the kid and not for the parents? Well, Waylon also showed signs of being Divergent at school.

Weapons: Waylon keeps a pistol that he keeps with him at all times, along with a pocket knife, and a flashlight he also has. The same flashlight he packed when he was younger.

Nicknames: After 6 months of living with Tobias, Tobias started calling Waylon “Way.” Once Waylon got his tattoo before the books, he was known as "Flame” by a certain number of people who knew about Waylon. Like Zeke. After the books, everyone calls Waylon “The Dauntless King”

How will Waylon contribute in the Divergent series:

In Divergent: Waylon's first appearance is in chapter 22. When Tris wakes up in Tobias's room, Waylon panics. Worried that Tris might tell on Waylon for being there. However, Tris promises to not mention Waylon to anyone. That calms both Waylon and Tobias down. Waylon introduces himself and Tris takes a liking towards Waylon. Tobias and Tris talk and Waylon makes coffee for both of them and one for himself.

Then, the day when everyone becomes controlled by the serums, Tobias rushes to his apartment and tells Waylon he has to go meet Tobias by the Abnegation compound. Waylon panics but Tobias calms Waylon down and Waylon packs everything and Tobias promises that everything will be okay.

Then, Waylon packs his belongings into a backpack Tobias gave him. He packs his red and black gloves, his pocket knife Tobias gave him on his 12th birthday, some clothes, and the picture of his family and tells Tobias he loves him. Tobias smiles weakly while telling him he loves him back then Waylon leaves. It takes a few hours to get there but Waylon gets to the Abnegation compound. He saw Tris and Tobias get captured and decided to head to Erudite to save them. He stays in the shadows or in the bushes so no one sees him. He decided to go to Erudite alone to save Tris and Tobias. Then, someone catches Waylon but it's no one bad. It's Natalie. Tris’s mom. Once Natalie tells Waylon that, Waylon begins to trust her and they sneak into Erudite. Natalie tells Waylon she's in here for something but before she can finish their conversation, they get spotted by Dauntless soldiers under the serum and try to kill them but Waylon shoots and kills all three of them. Natalie can tell Waylon looks guilty for killing them. Natalie breaks it open with Waylon's help and Tris is freed.

Then, Natalie is shot and killed by some Dauntless guards. Both Waylon and Tris stop running. Waylon freezes for a second before masking his pain with bravery and takes Tris's arm and runs away with her to a safe spot.

They meet the others, Caleb, Marcus, and Tris's father, Andrew. After Waylon threatened to kill Marcus for what he did to Tobias, Tris calmed him down. Tris then makes a plan that Caleb, Marcus, and Andrew distract some guards while they go into the Control Room. Waylon runs and kills 2 guards and Andrew kills 5 more before getting shot and killed. Waylon and Tris make it in the Control Room.

Waylon and Tris discover that Tobias is under a serum. Waylon and Tris work together to get the weapon away from Tobias but in the process, Tobias hits Waylon hard in the face.

Waylon yells to Tris he'll kill the guards while she fixes Tobias.

Waylon kills at least 9 guards and spots Jeanine. Jeanine looks actually horrified because she thought Waylon was dead. Waylon just looks at her, grins a little, and points his gun at her. But before he can, Tobias is back to normal.

After Tobias sees Waylon, he tells Waylon to lower the gun. That's when they use the serum to control Jeanine and save all of Abnegation and awaken many Dauntless soldiers. The three leave the Control Room. Tobias then hugs Waylon and apologizes for hitting Waylon out. Waylon forgives him.

On the train to Amity, Waylon slightly panics but Tobias puts his hand on Waylon's knee. That calmed Waylon down. Waylon looks at Tris and sees Tris shaken by what happened to her parents. Waylon tells her it's not her fault.

Insurgent: During the time that they're staying at Amity, Waylon is silent for most of the time due to the memories of Amity flooding his head. During nighttime, Tris questions why he's so quiet and Tris finds out about Waylon's past. Tris sees the guilt, and sadness in Waylon's eyes. She helps Waylon just like how he did in the first book. Waylon will also tell her about Will's death and how she did what she had to do. As they go deeper in conversation, Waylon begins opening up more and more. He then pulls out his picture of his past family. Tris smiles and says he looks like his mom. Which he kinda does. Waylon smiles and says to Tris she looks like Natalie. They hug.

Then, Johanna pulls Waylon into her office. Johanna breaks down crying. Waylon is confused but gets up and hesitantly hugs her anyway. Johanna gently breaks out of the hug and tells him she's missed him so much. Waylon asks why. He thinks no one missed him. Johanna is shocked by Waylon's self doubt. She explains to Waylon how his mom and dad were secretly spies for Amity. They found out something but before they could give the information to Johanna, Waylon was kidnapped and his parents freaked out and they were killed on the same night Waylon was kidnapped. No one knew who did it but they were certainly from Erudite. But the thing his parents were trying to do was to gather information was not explained

Waylon is shocked by this news but decides to keep it to himself unless he needs to say something.

Afterwards, he took a nap. When he woke up the next morning, Tobias wanted to show himself to cheer Waylon up. He pulls out cards. He teaches Waylon how to play Blackjack. It took Waylon a few rounds but he beat Tobias! Tobias gives Waylon the set of cards and tells him to play with Uriah next time he sees him. Waylon grins and says he will.

Then later that same day, when the Dauntless traitors come to find Waylon and the others, Tobias, Waylon, Tris, and Caleb were sneaking onto the train, Erudite guards spotted them and they quickly got to the train. They were heading to Candor but they got stopped by Edward. He takes them to the Factionless. There, Waylon meets Evelyn. When Evelyn said she'll make Tobias become someone important, Waylon snaps back and tells her Tobias is way more important than she'll ever be. That makes Eveyln mad.

Then, Waylon wants to sit down and eat. He gets food but all the other tables are filled up. Waylon then met a factionless girl named Lilly sitting on a table alone. Waylon asked if he could sit next to her because all of the other tables were taken. Because it's lunch now. She just rolled her eyes and said sure. Waylon then pulls out cards he got from Amity and asks Lilly if she wants to play. Lilly looked surprised before masking it with sass and said sure.

Then, Waylon, Tobias, Tris, and some others left for Candor. They made it there.

There, Waylon and the others are injected with a truth serum.

After Tris reveals to everyone she killed Will, Waylon confesses about the horrible things Erudite did to him and how he escaped. That made Jack realize how serious Erudite is as a problem.

Then after, Waylon spots a woman named Christina crying alone. He approached her and asked what was wrong. Christina tells him about how she's so upset at Tris for killing Will. Waylon remembers what Tris told him back in Amity. Waylon says he was with Tris when she shot Will. He says she didn't want to but she shot him to save herself and Waylon. Waylon also says Will was under the serum like her. Tris couldn't do anything but kill him at the time. Christina understands but still is upset at Tris. Then, he spots Uriah. He remembers seeing him with Zeke on a visit during the time Waylon was in the apartment. Waylon and Uriah have been friends for a long time. Christina, Uriah and Waylon become quite the trio.

Then on that same night. It was near 2 AM. Waylon just woke up from a nightmare. But Waylon heard something while trying to go back to sleep. It sounded like it was coming from the roof of the Merciless Mart. He goes up there. There, he sees Tris staring down. She is about to jump off to kill herself but Waylon bolts over to her and yanks her back. He isn't mad. But deeply unsettled by the fact Tris almost killed herself. Tris breaks down crying. Waylon just lets her cry. He asks her why she's crying. Tris says she can't handle the guilt and pains of her parents and Will. Waylon remembers the Candor truth serum trial. Waylon then tells her that he talked with Christina. Christina now understands. This cheers Tris up. But Tris also reveals Tobias is going to talk with her and worries they'll break up. Waylon promises that if Tobias were to yell at Tris and leave her, Waylon would scream at Tobias. And he means that. Waylon goes on to tell Tris that she deserves to live and that this isn't her fault. Waylon also tells her that she doesn't have to save everyone. And tells Tris that some people will die and that's life. And how those dead people would want Tris to continue fighting back. Tris hugs Waylon tightly. Waylon hugs her back and says he can't lose his new mom already. That made Tris break down because Waylon just called her mom basically. Waylon thanks her so much for being alive. Tris and Waylon go back downstairs to get some rest.

After some days with Uriah and Christina, Waylon kinda wants to go on a walk. So without asking Tobias, he goes on a walk. Then, he meets Lilly again by a broken down train. He sees Lilly inside. Waylon walks in. They start talking. Lilly reveals that this is her home. Waylon questions why she lives so far from factionless. She reveals like she's just there and that the people in the Factionless just ignore her. Waylon cheers her up when he tells her he knows that feeling. He explains he was trapped in an apartment for nearly 3 years. Lilly questions why? Waylon tells her about how Erudite kidnapped him and experimented on him and how he escaped with the help of James. Lilly is genuinely horrified that Erudite did that but she also says that's why she doesn't trust anyone. Waylon asks if she trusts him. She says Waylon's different in a good way. Before Waylon can say anything, Waylon and Lilly hear some Dauntless traitors. Waylon and Lilly immediately get behind a box. Here, Waylon hears them saying something going to Candor. Waylon knows Tobias and Tris are there. Lilly tells Waylon they're going to jump out and make a run but Waylon tells Lilly they need to stay in here. Waylon says he ain't risking getting Lilly shot. Lilly finally agrees and they stay hidden. They both fall asleep by each other but are still hidden behind some old boxes.

The next morning, Waylon and Lilly hurried back to Candor.

There, Tobias sees Waylon and rushes over to Waylon and yells where he has been. Waylon explains he went out for a walk, and hid all night in an abandoned train. Tobias looks mad before Waylon asks if everyone is okay. Tobias asks how he knew something was wrong. Waylon explains about overhearing the traitors. Tobias finally answers that everyone is safe. Waylon is relieved that everyone's safe. Waylon then has Lilly meet everyone. Christina and Uriah already like her. Tobias is protective over Lilly and approves of her staying. Tris and Lilly get along quickly.

After the execution that Waylon helped take part of, the group goes back to Dauntless.

Waylon gets to meet Dauntless members who didn't even think Tobias having a son would be possible

Most like him. He gets along well with Hector, Lynn, Marlene, and the others. They ask Uriah how come he never told them about Waylon. Waylon tells them about why he had to stay hidden in that apartment. That made Lynn hate Erudite even more. It made Marlene think Waylon's a whole lot stronger now. And Hector was deeply concerned for Waylon.

Waylon tells them it's fine and that he moved on.

Then a few hours later, Marlene died. Waylon was in his and Tobias's old apartment cleaning his gun and knife. Once he heard the screaming, he rushed out. He finds Uriah crying near a corner. Waylon, being the best friend that he is, asks Uriah what happened. After he tells Waylon about the simulation Jeanine made to help get Divergents to turn themselves in by corrupting other Dauntless members' minds and not stopping till the Divergents turns themselves in, Waylon tells Uriah he better not turn himself in. Waylon cheers Uriah by telling him she's in a better place without a faction war. Uriah says he guesses so but then starts drinking. Waylon, not knowing he drinks, starts questioning Uriah but Uriah leaves. Waylon feels like he messed up.

Then a few chapters later, when Waylon goes to hear Jack and Jeanine's conversation underneath the bridge with the others. When Jeanine doesn't show up, Waylon flat out calls her a coward underneath his breath. When the shootings begin, Waylon starts helping Tris pinpoint where Jeanine is. He wants to kill her so bad. He tells Uriah.

Waylon then sees Tris go to Erudite to turn herself in as Tobias leaves to go save her. Waylon goes to his room in the safe house and he gets his gun and goes out to Erudite to save Tris and Tobias. Again. He knows Tobias should be there.

When Waylon gets there, he finds Tobias' cell and lets Tobias know he'll get him out. Waylon finds Peter and Peter tells Waylon he's switched the death serum for Tris with the paralytic serum so that Tris looks dead but she wouldn't die. Waylon then frees Tobias and the four escape. They went to the Abnegation sector. Then Tris tells Waylon about what Caleb did. Waylon looks deeply mad and flat out says out loud he's going to shoot Caleb. Tris doesn't like Waylon saying that so she asks Waylon to stop. Waylon reluctantly stops but he's very mad at Caleb.

Then, he finds Lilly. Lilly has heard everything Waylon's done. She tells him she thinks he's cool. Waylon smiles and tells her he thinks she's cool as well. Lilly openly states she doesn't think that because she's never had anyone. Lilly never knew her parents. After Waylon says he relates and reveals what happened to his parents and tells her they're both lonely, Lilly smiles and feels seen for once. She thanks him because she's never had anyone. Waylon smiles but he hears Tobias calling for him so Waylon says his goodbyes to Lilly and leaves.

Waylon has dinner with Tobias, Tris, and the others. He seems happy and relaxed now.

It's Waylon's 14th birthday, he sees Tris and Christina go but doesn't think anything about it. He's hanging out with Uriah.

During the moment after Tori killed Jeanine and Tobias, Uriah, and Waylon bursts in, Tobias starts yelling at Tris for being a traitor, Tris yells at him for lying to her, and Waylon, being Waylon, just tells them both to shut the hell up. Of course no one cares. Waylon sees Uriah after escorting Tris and Christina downstairs and sits next to Christina and Uriah.

Then, when the video says that there is more outside of the city and when the numbers of Divergents increase, the city of Chicago will be able to enter back into the world, Waylon tells Tris this is what his parents were spying on. Tris then gets mad and asks why Waylon never told them. Waylon panics and yells that he didn't want to risk getting anyone killed. Tris is still mad at Waylon so Uriah breaks things up and just tells Tris to quit it and Waylon to just chill.

Allegiant:

Waylon has been following Tobias closely and feels bad because he has to stay away from Tris. Tobias then tells Waylon that he's going on a secret date with Tris and he can't tell anyone. Waylon promises he won't tell anyone.

During that, Waylon meets up with Lilly. He and her chat about all the drama. Uriah sees them and wants to cheer them up by asking if they want to practice some knife throwing. Lilly says she doesn’t know how to and Waylon offers to teach her.

A few days later, Waylon is with Tobias and Tris when they meet the group called the Allegiants. The Allegiants have made a plan to stop Evelyn and stop the war but they have to go outside of the city. Tobias was planning on having Waylon stay but Waylon feels he has to come. Tris thinks he should come since he's helped out so much already. Tobias finally agrees.

When Waylon and Tobias visit the Dauntless compound one last time before they leave, they go into their fear simulations. This is Waylon's first time. Tobias watches. Tobias sees Waylon's five fears:

Being injected with needles

Seeing Tobias and the people he cares about die

Tobias abandoning him

Being torn apart

And killing innocent people

Tobias is impressed by how well Waylon did but also feels bad for Waylon having thoughts he might have to worry Tobias might leave him. Tobias promises he would never abandon Waylon. The same night, when Waylon's going to bed, he wakes up from a nightmare from his fear simulation and smokes. Tobias doesn't know he smokes. Waylon started smoking in secret by the end of Insurgent.

Then Tori spotted him. Waylon panicked and tried quickly putting it away. Tori says she doesn't really care and sits next to him and pulls out a cigarette. She starts opening up to Waylon about how she's stressed, how she's worried, and actually thinks they're going to lose and die. Waylon tries reassuring her but she doesn't believe Waylon. Waylon pulls out his cigarette and begins smoking as he says he also feels like something bad is about to happen. But he has faith. Tori tells him not to put a fake sense of hope on. Waylon asks her if she wants to hang out and breathe for a moment. She agrees and they do.

The next day, before Tobias frees Caleb, Waylon asks Zeke and Shauna if they can keep Lilly safe for him. They agree and let Lilly stay in their hiding area.

After Caleb is back in the group sorta, he immediately tries asking Tris for an apology but Waylon tells him to shut up while calling him Jeanine's Hoochie Daddy!

Of course Tobias gets on to Waylon, but Tris tries so hard to not laugh bitterly and mock Caleb. Tris lets Waylon mock Caleb for the rest of Allegiant.

Then, they get to the fence but then gun shots are heard but they escape and get outside of the fence. But Waylon saw Tori get shot to death. Waylon is sad but helps the others get to the other side.

Waylon and the others are alone in the ruined world. Then, a car approaches, and a man named Amar and a woman named Zoe get out, saying that they work for the same organization that founded the city. Tobias cannot believe it, as Amar was his initiation instructor in Dauntless. Amar had died years ago because he was Divergent. Zoe somehow knows Tris’s name, and she shows Tris a photograph of a group of people that includes her mother. Waylon cannot help but hope that all his loved ones that had died might still be alive somewhere, just how Amar was important to Tobias but was claimed dead but was alive and well here. But his theory was wrong. His family was nowhere to be found when they got to the Bureau.

After David explains why Chicago is locked up, Waylon is confused because he thinks the reasoning is stupid but keeps quiet.

After the tour of the Bureau, Waylon goes to his own room in the Bureau living quarters. Now that he's finally alone and feels sort of safe, he lets himself cry. He's questioning his sense of hope and prays to God asking for advice. Afterwards, he got an idea. To relieve stress, he goes to Uriah. He notices Uriah is a little off. Waylon asks Uriah if he's alright. Uriah reveals he's drunk. Waylon doesn't like people being drunk really. Waylon sighs and walks away but then Christina pulls him off to the side. She asks how Waylon's holding up. Waylon admits he doesn't trust the Bureau at all. Christina reassures everything's going to be just fine.

After rejecting her saying that, Matthew finds him. Waylon is deeply confused. He wonders why Matthew would need him?

Well, Matthew asks Waylon if his little sister was Rosy Lee. Waylon says yes.

We find out that Rosy is alive and well. After their parents died, Jeanine had Rosy be picked up by some of the Bureau employees so they could wipe her mind and put her in the Fringe with genetically damaged parents. Waylon was so mad. But he realizes through Tobias if he speaks to David about this, bad things will happen. So Waylon decides to hang out with Uriah and Christina to blow off steam. They drink alcohol while he drinks sweet tea.

A few days later, Waylon sees Nita and Tobias have been closer while Tris has been growing jealous. Nita seems very suspicious and it's easy to tell she has a crush on Tobias. Waylon confesses he thinks Tobias shouldn't be hanging out with Nita and he doesn't trust her. Tobias starts getting defensive and tells Waylon to just go away. Waylon then yells about trying to protect him. Tobias says he doesn't need protection from just a kid and tells Waylon to just go. Waylon, now mad, tells Tobias to stop acting like Marcus. Tobias actually goes silent. Waylon leaves and Uriah quickly follows him. Waylon snaps at Uriah and tells him to leave him be and he doesn't want to be with an idiot. That hurts Uriah's feelings.

Waylon goes to his room and slams the door and starts crying.

Waylon starts wondering if him dying would even matter. What if he doesn't need to live anymore. He actually feels like all he does is make everyone mad. He sees his gun. He picks it up. He stares at it. He can easily end it all right then and there. But before he does, Tris knocks on his door. Waylon quickly puts the gun away and opens it. Tris just wanted to tell Waylon if he wants to eat dinner with just her and Christina, she can. Waylon decides to go. Tris, not knowing, saved Waylon's life.

When Waylon gets back to his room, he decides he won't do anything bad to himself. For now.

Waylon decides he should at least do something to pass time. He then remembers Nita. She seemed suspicious. So, he decided to go out, find her, and listen in on her plans.

For the next day, Waylon's had no success and he and Tobias are still arguing. Waylon is pushing Tobias more and more away as he grows closer with Nita and Tobias being away a lot more. Waylon's been alone in his room a lot. Either drawing out of boredom or reading. Yes, Waylon's an artist. He drew a lot in the apartment years with Tobias. And what Waylon reads is either Bureau manuals, maps, or his bible. Yes, Waylon is a Christian.

Then later, Waylon remembers being rude to Uriah. He decides to go apologize to him. Uriah is near the Weapons Lab. Waylon asks Uriah to come into his room. Uriah is drunk but says sure. Waylon apologizes for how he treated Uriah but Uriah just joked it off. Waylon knows Uriah is still hurt and that's why he's drunk. Before Waylon can say anything, there's a loud rumble. Waylon rushes over to see what Nita was really planning. The weapons lab didn't get blown up but a lot of people were killed. And it was part of Tobias's fault for trusting Nita. Waylon is so mad at Tobias right now.

When Tobias is freed from prison after two to three days, Waylon yells at Tobias and calls him out for being a dumbass and straight up threatens Tobias that he would no longer view him as his father if he does one more stupid thing. Uriah is the one to restrain Waylon from hurting Tobias. Waylon breaks free from Uriah's grasp but instead of hurting Tobias, he just walks away.

Later that night, Waylon is in his room alone. Crying. He feels like Tobias doesn't want to be his dad anymore. He feels so lost. He even thinks he wants to die now. Waylon reaches out for his gun

Christina walks in his room and sees Waylon looking at his gun while it's close to his chest. Christina notices. Mind you, she's been watching Waylon Waylon's behavior closely. She gently walks over to Waylon and hugs Waylon tightly. He admits he wants to die because he thinks he needs to escape all this pain and agony. Christina tells him he should never say that. She tells him he's the group's little flame and if something were to happen to him, they would all go insane.

Christina tells Waylon that only cowards say that. She tells Waylon she knows Waylon isn't a coward and she tells Waylon he has so much to live for still. Like Tobias. She tells Waylon she even talked to Tobias and Tobias feels so bad. Waylon still has his worries but he's a little better. Christina tells Waylon he matters so much that if he does die, the group dies. Waylon starts believing her.

Now, after Tobias and Tris make up, Waylon finds Tobias. They hug each other. Waylon apologizes for being a jerk. Tobias says he was the jerk. They apologize until Uriah asks the two if they both want some tea together. They say yes. So everyone's in peace. Until Tris finds out David's real plan. He wants to use her to complete his experiment to reset Chicago. Tris sneaks out and meets with the full group so they can make a plan to stop this.

Matthew reveals that whoever is not a GP will die from the death serum.

They start making plans.

Tobias asks Waylon if he had any ideas. It was Tobias saying, I trust you now. Waylon then reveals he heard David say if anyone tries to go into the Weapons Lab to do something, they'll get shot. So, Waylon devises a plan. Tobias, Christina, Peter, Uriah, Zoe, and Amar leave and go back to Chicago to settle things out with Evelyn and Marcus. While Cara, Christina, and Caleb help break them in. Waylon will go into the vents while Tris goes through the main entrance. Waylon plans that he'll jump out of the vents as David comes in and shoot him until he dies as Tris activates the serum on the Bureau. Tris asks Waylon if he's a GP. Waylon says he's probably not. He'll sacrifice himself for everyone in Chicago. For his new family. Everyone tries to back Waylon out of the idea but they know it's the only way. Tobias breaks down crying when he realizes his son might lose his life and hugs Waylon tightly. Waylon tells him not to worry. He'll live. Hopefully… After a very hard talk, Waylon finally convinces them to let him do it.

They all settle in for bed. Waylon is sleeping next to Tobias. Tobias is holding Waylon tightly. He did so for that whole night.

The day comes. Waylon and Tobias say their goodbyes. Tobias tells Waylon he's the best son an old man like him could ever ask for. Waylon cries into Tobias's shoulder as he says he loves Tobias so much. A few moments later, they break out of the hug. Waylon waves goodbye to Uriah with a weak grin and leaves so he can do this. Him and Tris successfully get into the Bureau. Waylon separates from Tris when he gets in the vents. Tris asks him to not miss. Waylon says he will. His tone sarcastically. Tris weakly laughs as Waylon goes into the vents.

In the final battle, David is already there. When the death serum goes off, Waylon prays to God hoping he is genetically pure. He felt very weak but he is OKAY! He is genetically pure. He then throws himself out the vent when he hears David talking to Tris smugly, and shoots David in the head four times. David falls. As David is half dead, Waylon walks up to him and calls him a bastard and stabs David on his forehead. Before Tris activates it, Tris is surprised by Waylon's Divergence, which makes him GP. Tris hugs Waylon tightly and Waylon hugs back tightly. She activities while Waylon makes a joke about the death serum making him feel like he's back on the same serum drugs Erudite gave him. Tris tells him not to joke like that but still laughs.

Cara safety gets them back to Chicago where Tobias has made a peace treaty and ended the war. Tobias sees Tris and Waylon and hugs them crying. The rest of the group joins in the hug.

2 years later, Waylon is now 16. He is now so much happier! Him and Lilly live together in their own apartment. Tobias and Tris and their new born daughter named Anna live together in a house near where the Chasm was. Uriah and Christina are officially dating! Zeke and Shauna just got married. Caleb has given Shauna a prosthetic leg. Caleb has been forgiven. He's mainly helped delete all of Jeanine and David's research and work. The factions are dissolved and gone. So the stereotypes are mainly gone. Peter quietly moved out of Chicago out of guilt. No one really misses him. Evelyn finally changed and is a better person.

Now everyone is eating together. Tobias is sitting next to Waylon and Tris. Anna is asleep. Uriah, Christina, Zeke, and Shauna are sitting next to Tobias and Waylon. Caleb is sitting next to Tris. Evelyn is on the couch hanging out with Anna. They're all still celebrating how Waylon saved all their butts. Waylon tries to tell them to stop while smiling. They don't. Waylon then changes the subject to how one year ago from today was the day Tobias officially adopted Waylon. Tobias says that's one of his favorite moments last year. Lilly also got adopted by Zeke and Shuana. While Waylon and them were gone ever Allegiant, Lilly built up trust and love towards Zeke and Shauna. Zeke, of course, is the funniest dad ever. Shauna's the bossy but can be a sweet mother.

After more chatting about stuff like the time Uriah failed Christina's date so badly, she fell in love with him. Or Tobias caught Waylon smoking. Yeah, Tobias had a long talk with Waylon after. It was a stubborn conversation but it caused Waylon to quit smoking before it became a big habit. That was a week after Allegiant. Everyone laughs about both things. But Tobias gets the alert that it's time for the meeting. So they say their goodbyes and leave. Zeke and Shauna then say they need to get to the bar. Which they own. So they leave after saying their goodbyes. Caleb says he's got some research to do. So he says his goodbyes and leaves. Then Uriah and Christina say they gotta go to their job. Which is at a coffee shop. So they say their goodbyes. Evelyn says her goodbyes and leaves.

It's just Waylon, Lilly, and a sleeping Anna. Waylon looks at Lilly with a peaceful smile. Lilly looks at him with a peaceful smile. After they talked about how amazing life is now, they kissed.

Some questions people asked me and answers I have:

Is Waylon Divergent: Yes, he is. He's a mixture of Amity, Dauntless, and Abnegation. This makes him immune to the Erudite serums. This also explains why he was the one to be kidnapped due to being the only kid in his family to be shown as Divergent.

How Waylon escaped the lab at the age of ten:

After being weak from experiments and feeling like he was about to die, a selfless Erudite lab guy named James saw Waylon. He actually wanted to be Abnegation but was forced onto Erudite by his dad. He felt bad for Waylon and freed him. James was killed but this gave the chance for Waylon to escape and he took it. He got through the guards by killing them with sharp things he could find or knocking them out. Waylon went to an empty room with a window and crawled through and Waylon successfully escaped.

How Waylon got his flame tattoo: Tobias met someone in the Dauntless compound before the books who was a tattoo artist. This guy was named Brad. Tobias trusted Brad enough that he let him know who Waylon was. Bred gotten along with Waylon fast and gave Waylon his iconic tattoo, but Bred was killed not long after by Erudite for being Divergent
