https://wikimon.net/images/2/27/M07_05.jpg World of Souls Part 2 ~The Island Arc~ Welcome, welcome, welcome, to... uhm is Alex reading this? Then: totally the Forest Terminal payoff. *nods nods* The Forest Terminal IS REAL!!! This is my NovMo project: Part 2 of World of Souls I didn't plan on making this a second part. But... the focus is so different from what came before that it is basically a book 2, of sorts. You'll see if you finish reading WoS Part 1 :) Elevator Pitch After five Japanese children were lured into the Digital World with promises ranging from "You'll find your destiny" to "Actually I didn't even wanna come here in the first place", things did smooth out a little. After all, the whole reason they've been summoned seems to be this mysterious Forest Terminal which is now within their grasp! But... it turns out that the rumors of people randomly disappearing in and around Forest Terminal have not been greatly exaggerated. Now, the five main characters plus the digimon that they literally recruited yesterday have gone ahead and disappeared themselves without ever reaching the destination! Stuck on a strange island that devours souls, they quickly find themselves embroiled in a massive civil war fought between Human digimon and Beast digimon. All the while, time on their actual quest is running out! Character & Location List & Main Character(s!) View the Main Character List here ! Other important characters: Human Digimon: Darcmon, Kabukimon (Mira), Nohemon (Hedwig), Kotemon (Merlin), Dinohyumon (Han), Yaksamon (Sai) Beast Digimon: HippoGriffomon, Grizzmon (Uther), Moosemon (Genieve), Bearmon (Arthur), Labramon (Morgana) Unaffiliated: Deramon (Derek), Murmuxmon We are staying strictly on the Island for this one I'm afraid. https://wikimon.net/images/4/4b/Wandering_Island.JPG Side Characters For the duration of the Island Arc, we're going to stick with some very important digimon living on the Island. Most of them are too embroiled in the war with the opposing side to have dreams beyond crushing the opposition. But the children Bearmon and Kotemon are working on undermining the war from the inside, secretly becoming friends and fostering friendships between the children of the Human and Beast digimon. But things might all be for naught as there's an entity on the Island that strives of conflict and despair who wishes to harvest the negative emotions of everyone involved to bring its own plot to fruition. Something that could have consequences beyond this isolated Island.... Most Challenging Character To my horror, the most challenging character right now is First Person Narrator Zoe! I can't seem to nail down her voice while also advancing the plot :( Worldbuilding Secrets I'm excited to talk about the fact that there might exist more than one Digital World! And that the most important enemy of the Island Arc is tied to the World of Hearts with a power set completely new to the main characters! We are also gonna revisit the Ancient Times from the Prologue of World of Souls, continuing just after ElementalIrismon/AncientIrismon delivered her message about the Merchants of Misery :3 Vibes I think the vibes are distinctly ochre for this one, given how we are diving into the Ancient History for this one~ Inspiring Music I refer you to this amazing playlist I made full of Digimon background (and occasionally foreground) music! Inciting Incident Given the murky status of this project, I think I don't really have a regular "inciting incident" here... But the MC's digimon recruit could view being dragged along into such an ancient and historic setting as a great boon. And that living through historic times is quite the challenge. (Yes, Gotsumon, this entire Arc exists to show off your skillset. Now make the most out of it or perish!) Character Questionnaire Name: Gotsumon (Lee) Pronouns: He/Him (tho gender expression is literally a bitflip for them and you can switch at any moment without anyone batting an eye) Age: Teenager Height: Uhhhhhhh 150 cm...???? Eye colour: Yellow with a black sclera Hair colour: No hair, he's made of ~rock~ Physical appearance: ROCK PERSON ROCK PERSON Unique physical attributes: Wears a magnifying glass! Favourite clothing style/outfit: MAGNIFYING GLASS, PPL! Favourite shoes/footwear: ....we don't do that here when we have ~ground vision~ Defining gestures/movements: can summon rocks for protection by pushing his hands out! Speaking style: clipped and always slightly impatient (unless he's intimidated by being new ) Things about their appearance they would most like to change: He might or might not digivolve at some point (we might also learn why he cannot do that) Physical health: Good-at least in the beginning. Depending on if he can show off his skillset or not, he might be walking on thin ICE Pet peeves: ppl getting history wrong, especially Human digimon simplifying Beast digimon Fondest memory: he and his brother working on their very first translation (back at the cliff near their home town where the Beast Spirit of Light laid dormant) Hobbies/interests: archaeology, writing letters Special skills/abilities: knows how to approach a dig site? knows what is needed on long travels across the Digital World. Can read the language of the digimon (a rarity in this group), ground vision, can summon rocks for defence. Also: could theoretically digivolve all by himself His social skills are a little below average. What little remained in that department self-destructed over his 2 year long depression spiral bc his entire life literally fell apart around him after Gigasmon murdered his family. Insecurities: he's never been a great fighter and never managed to finish his formal education. Now he's with children from another world who are fighting for his world and they specifically recruited him because he's good with history - but he's only a teenager too and still trying to find his old motivation for living... Quirks/eccentricities: He's one of the few people who gets Kouji. Also, very very passionate about history and old sites~ Philosophy of life/motto: Preserve what we can before it's all gone. Positive traits: smart, good with children Negative traits: stubborn, doesn't really value his own life (at the moment) Things that upset him: people mentioning what he's lost Things that embarrass him: people reminding him that he ran of Kouji's Beast Spirit which he couldn't really control Things that make them happy: doing what he did before his life fell apart: going to places and figuring out the history behind them This character is highly opinionated about: Actually, his opinionated about everything and will judge you for disagreeing with him Any phobias? Uhhh holes? (Has a long history of falling down holes) Superstitions: Not really Deepest, darkest secret: What really happened back with Gigasmon Reason he's kept this secret for so long: Because no one would believe him Where does he live? What is it like there? Before 2 years ago, he would have said his home is the road because his family was always travelling. Seaside, the home town of Gotsumon doesn't really hold a special place for him. Description of their home: Description of their room: Family (describe): His Aunt (Kim) is a retired adventurer. She's just as disillusioned as him about the state of the Digital World, to the point she's lost the ability to digivolve. Any pets? Digimon don't have that. Other people's opinions of this character: The group's still forming its opinion on him, but Kouji and JP at least believe that he is not to be left alone on night guard duty xp Favourite bands/songs/types of music: He loves Ranamon's music! The Warrior of Water is the biggest star in the Digital World! Favourite movies/TV shows: Don't exist in the Digital World Favourite books: Probably one of the language books his dad swears by. Which currently is back with his aunt in Seaside (a shame, since it could REALLY come in handy on the Island!) Favourite foods: Rock Soup! Favourite sports/sports teams: Eww, who would want to get into something boring like that! Dream holiday: Would love to visit Ophanimon's Castle and its grand library! Best thing that has ever happened to this character: Being one of the only people to see the grand stream before it was inevitably scanned by Cherubimon's goons :( Worst thing that has ever happened to this character: Gigasmon. Three words to describe this character: Stubborn little runt. If a song played every time this character walked into a room, what song would it be? I don't wanna do this :/ I am bad with music. Favorite ice cream flavor: Salted Chocolate~

Snoink wrote:You know, when Digimon first came out, there was this giant rivalry between those who like Pokemon and those who liked Digimon, and like... liking both was seen as this horrible thing. Being a kid myself, I was all for this rivalry, lol. (I chose Pokemon!) Now I wonder if I've missed out on something kind of cool that I probably would have liked! :P

@Snoink You most definitely did =D Digimon has the WAY better storylines ^^ (for a kid's show)
I liked both btw :) My first ever fanfic posted was a Pokémon fic after all.

I highly recommend rewatching Digimon even if the nostalgia magic doesn't work on you... just to make me happy naturally =D
(tho as I always say: the English dub is ... uhm... an acquired taste. If you want the abridged version the regular English dub is your go-to. As a serious watcher? No.)

@AlexWrites idk why you are reading so much into this snippet XD It's just him arriving late and digivolving lol Patience friend. Also you should definitely finish reading P1 first before snooping around in this thread xp
