All The Things She Never Said

Her hazel eyes said more than she could
But not enough to be understood.
She kept silent through pain and prosper
For secrets she would continue to foster.

I had hoped she'd tell and she hoped I'd ask
But not everyone gets what they want and we have a past
Trust was a foreign thing to her
Betrayal a reminder, in her shoe a bur

She said the words but not out loud
They were whispered in her heart, held close
Here eyes searched mine waiting for an answer
But not a single word could I spare her

I knew some of what she thought,
That I might hate her for what she'd done
That I'd leave her for letting him whisper in her ear at night
And for all things that hadn't been right

I know not all the things she didn't say
Yet I wish I could answer every day
Yet nothing could I utter, not a word
But I forgive her still, of all they things she didn't say

You nailed the feeling of wanting and needing to forgive, especially after a relationship ends, and the feeling of letting yourslef forgive, even if it is hard. This poem made me feel really melancoly, because I have felt the feelings described in this poem before. And, I love the ending. It is so true. It ties in the whole idea of having fear around someone not opening up, and wanting to be there for them, but also respecting that they aren't ready. You actually are so ding dang talented, and I loved this poem soooooooo much! I honestly have no critiques because it was so good!

Thank you for the positive feedback!
Glad you liked it!

Hello, Queenie here!
Love this poem...
Keep on going and never stop writing!
Now, let me see....

Her hazel eyes said more than she could
But not enough to be understood.
She kept silent through pain and prosper
For secrets she would continue to foster.

I love that you made this sound good and rhyme at the same time, only a true writer would be able to do that! I love the image of the hazel eyes too!

I knew some of what she thought,
That I might hater her for what she'd done
That I'd leave her for letting him whisper in her ear at night
And for all things that hadn't been rig

Hmm... hater does'nt just seem right ..... or is it just me?

Overall, one of the best poems that I've seen so far today!
Love, Queenie!

Thank you for the input! I will be trying to work more soon!

I love your poem! Keep going.
Is there a typo 'That I might hater her for what she'd done'
hater->hate ?

when you said She said the words but not out loud
I wondered what that was? Can we have a hint? :)

yeah that was a typo, thanks for pointing it out! Ill fix it now!

the only hint I can give is that people who are insecure from old wounds often say in their heart a few things, but two of those things are 'will I be enough for you?' and 'do you love me?'
(note another is 'what did I do wrong?'

Hi!!! I really love this piece! This poem beautifully captures the pain of secrets and unsaid words. I love how specific the details of her hazel eyes are, too!! The poem is insanely raw and emotional! I particularly loved the lines,

"She said the words but not out loud
They were whispered in her heart, held close
Here eyes searched mine waiting for an answer
But not a single word could I spare her"

Thank you for sharing this piece!!!

of course! so glad you liked it! I will be adding more of the 'All The Things' poetry collection after some more edits!
