HAM
floating through the hallways
people staring straight past
pay no mind as I come through
'the ghost girl' they whisper
'she's 6 feet under and will never come back'
'she's lost her voice and come to her senses'
but who will miss her?
'they say at night if you listen real close
you can hear her wail and you can hear them boast'
boast about having her heart
boast about having her soul
she's invisible now, no mind, no bones
'ghost girl, come back' they all pretend
but their last thoughts at night aren't about ghost girl
they're about them
floating through the hallways
people staring straight past
pay no mind as I come through
'the ghost girl' they whisper
'i knew her'
but they can't quite remember her story
or anything like that
she has this pale grayish glow
she's all bones
and all skin
but if you get real close
if you ever do
you can see the scars
they'll look back at you
they'll bleed and beg
to be seen
for you to listen
floating through the hallways
people staring straight past
pay no mind as I come through
'the ghost girl' they whisper
'where are your bones? where is your soul? where are your teeth? and where is your heart?'
'they sold them' she whispers, 'they all sold my parts'
'oh ghost girl, won't you please come back? come back to your body, come back to your soul. won't you please, ghost girl, come back to the world?'
she dragged her eyes up and she dragged her eyes down
'there is no room for me here, there never was'
floating through the hallways
people staring straight past
pay no mind as I come through
'the ghost girl' they whisper
'she's never coming back'
there was no big scene, there was no dramatic goodbye
just a quiet tear before she laid down and died
now the moss is her grave
and the dirt is her bed
no flowers to be seen
nothing was ever really said
that was her mark on this world
she's still somewhere between
floating through the hallways
people staring straight past
pay no mind as I come through
'the ghost girl' they whisper
'i knew her'
her grave lies deep
somewhere no one has cared to know
'come back' no one said
forgotten
and alone
that's how the ghost girl died
pay her no mind
stare right through
you know how
don't try to remember the ghost girl
she's long gone now
i am the ghost girl
with nowhere to belong
I am the ghost girl
with bones white and long
I am the ghost girl
with all her parts sold
I am the ghost girl with a grave of moss and a bed of dirt
I am the ghost girl
just don't get too close
-let me rest
