In All about me

PreviousNext

Dear ex-best friend,
I sit here thinking of you,
You might’ve thought that I’ve finished
Saying everything to you.

I
Still
Wish
I
Had
You

I just wanted to let you know
That:
I didn't deserve to be the third wheel in our friendship
I didn't deserve to be the second choice
I didn't deserve to be the maybe you keep in your pocket
When bad times come.

You said I was too much for you.
What was that supposed to mean?
I’ve always thought that you were a sweet, kind girl.
With an angelic personality,
Now, you’ve left me here,
To carry the burden of my broken heart
All by myself.

Now, you hang out with your other best friend.

In that empty chair right next to you,
Is where she sits.
I hate that,
You both talk to each other,
As if I were a ghost.
An outcast.

But I want to say,
Thank you.
Because,
You’ve helped me find,
Other people,
That actually like me.
But just saying,
You were never one of them.

omg hi i like this, it smells acceptance lmfao, like accepting that writer feels upset because of their ex best friend and accepting that the writer is in the process of moving on? i think it's kind of cool how this poem is sort of like a rant/vent sort of writing so it just kind of feels realistic (like thoughts in your head) and i also like how raw it is? like um, the simplicity makes it better, if you know what i mean? i think i can also see the bitter undertones though, but idk if im interpreting it correctly hope you dont mind lmfao. i can also see the writer possibly romanticizing their ex best friend? thru the lines
" I’ve always thought that you were a sweet, kind girl.
With an angelic personality," it sort of gives off 'i thought you'd be this certain way' but obviously writer realizes they're wrong in the next few lines,
"Now, you’ve left me here,
To carry the burden of my broken heart
All by myself."
um overall, i think it's a pretty good poem, i can catch the reference like that eagle vro, anyway keep writing & have a gud day ♡

This reminds me a lot of my poem, Pink Hair and Green Eyes. Nice!! Did you take inspiration or not?

TheQueen replied · Sep 21

Kind of, but your poem was really good. Mine is just a ramble/ rant.
PS My poem is in the spotlight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to you!!!!!!!!!!!

ArdenJinn replied · Sep 21

I really like it! Honestly, most of my poems are a ramble.

TheQueen replied · Sep 21

Thanks! I can totally relate

ArdenJinn replied · Sep 21

Yay!!!! I'm so glad it's in the spotlight! It deserves it!

Awww, thank you so much. Your poems deserve it too.

Yo, golfe here!🤑
I've never written reviews before still trying to get the hang of this.
But I did somewhat enjoy this letter/poem.
I really love the imagery in this, especially the way you described her and how your friendship died down and also the lesson you gained from this.
I'd personally rate this a 6/10 🤑👌

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. Is there anything I can do to get a 9 or a 10 out of 10 for this? I can see that you are new here, so welcome.

As the notifications drift in I stop and wonder. Why do they take so long? Do they have adventures we don't know about? I bet they do. When they come I will ask myself. What amazing adventure has this straggling notification been on? How far did it travel, and why didn't it take me?
