Orpheus heard them say again,
“Don't let this ruin what you have.
She's your friend, don't risk the bond.
Some things aren't worth changing that.”
But every time he looked at her,
He wondered what they couldn't see.
Was he supposed to hide his heart
Just to keep the way things used to be
They say Eurydice followed him
Through every shadow, every door.
But you and I are standing here lifetimes later
On a path we've never walked before.
You don't know what a relationship means,
You've never had to learn the way.
And I'm afraid that asking for more
Could make our friendship fade away.
What if we rewrite the Greek Gods,
To have the gods stop keeping us apart?
What if we could change the fate they gave us,
Instead of tearing out each other's hearts?
What if our story doesn't have to end
Before we've even found the start?
What if we could learn this together,
Instead of letting fate decide our hearts?
Orpheus walked into the darkness,
With his parents' words in his head.
“Don't lose the friendship that you have.
Don't wish for more and lose what's left.”
He played his song for Eurydice,
But wondered what he'd say outside.
Could love survive the friendship
If he stopped keeping it inside?
Maybe the gods aren't the only ones
Who get to choose what we become.
Maybe fear can build its own walls
Even when nobody asked for them.
And maybe I don't need you
To already know what love should be.
Maybe we can learn together
What you and I could someday be.
Don't tell me to leave it untouched.
Don't tell me to bury what I feel.
If friendship is all we're allowed,
How will I know what could be real?
Orpheus turned around and lost her.
I don't want our story to repeat.
But I won't force you into something—
I'll just hope you choose to walk with me.
What if we rewrite the Greek Gods,
To have the gods stop keeping us apart?
What if we could change the fate they gave us,
Instead of tearing out each other's hearts?
What if our story doesn't have to end
Before we've even found the start?
What if we could learn this together,
And let our friendship become something more?
Orpheus had the Underworld.
We have fear and uncertainty.
He had to choose between looking back
And losing everything.
Maybe we get another choice.
Maybe we don't have to know.
Maybe we can take one step together
And see where it goes.

Hi, this is my new song Rewrite The Greek Gods
Hey there!
I'm Jaye! And I'll be reviewing this.
I don't really know much about Greek gods, it's not really my thing but I always enjoy reading different kinds of things about them. What I know from this song is that the narrator wants to break the gods' rule or thing and love the person he/she wants to love.
It's a nice poem.
It's a nice beginning, I don't know who Orpheus is lollll but I'm guessing that this is 3rd person?
But I'm guessing that the person is scared because they want to be more than friends but they also don't want to ruin what they have.
I love how freely this speaks, it doesn't sound forced at all.
I think my favorite in these lines are "Was he supposed to hide his heart; Just to keep the way things used to me"
I don't know why it just seems to grab my attention.
I don't know who Eurydice is, but I like this part.
Interesting way to put it.
I like this part because like I said earlier, the person is afraid, but they want to have more. It feels real to me because I love romance so I'd want them to have more than they already do.
I had to read this a couple of times to finally get it but it has a nice ring to it. Though I'm a bit confused, they aren't supposed to love each other, right?
Nice ring to it.
I'm so confused. Is this LGBTQ?
I like this part.
I really like this part. "How will I know what could be real?" wow. nice.
Is Orpheus a girl or guy? Is he talking to a girl or guy?
I like the repetition in this.
Ah yes. The devistation of having to choose one thing over the other.
Nice ending to it.
Overall, this was a nice story.
Keep up the work!
~ Jaye.
Orpheus is a myth where the love of his life died and he went to Hades the god of death to get her back and then he wasn't supposed to look back at her until they both made into the world of the living but he didn't listen and in the end he kills himself
Orpheus is a singer in Greek myths. And my name is not Orpheus.
The fact that Slade is following my movements is creepy 😭
I just noticed very easily when I'm bored.
XD
