6:52 PM, October 20

The sun had dipped below the horizon, leaving the sky a deep blue with a few stars glittering above. Luna was already at the café, wearing her apron and taking a customer's order.

And somehow, Kai had followed her.

The bell above the café door chimed as he entered. Luna looked up and saw him smiling and waving at her. She simply turned around and walked into the kitchen.

He walk and sat in an empty seat waiting for her.

From the kitchen, Luna glanced at him and sighed.

Lara nudged her shoulder and asked in a teasing voice, "Oh, Luna, who is he? He looks handsome!"

Lara had known Luna since childhood. They worked together at the café, and lara knew everything about Luna's past.

Luna ignored her teasing and walked out of the kitchen. She stopped in front of Kai, crossed her arms, and asked irritably, "Did you follow me?"

Kai shook his head quickly.

"No, no! I just wanted to drink some coffee."

However, his ears turned bright red as he lied.

Luna stared at him for a moment before nodding. A few minutes later, she returned with a cup of steaming coffee and placed it on his table.

Kai smiled at her. "Thank you so much, quiet girl!"

"Can you just stop calling me 'quiet girl'? It's weird." Her lips formed a small pout.

"But you haven't introduced yourself," he replied, resting his chin on his palm.

Luna looked at him, pressed her lips together, and sighed.

"Okay. I'm... Luna. Happy?"

Kai's face lit up. He smiled so widely that the corners of his eyes crinkled.

"Luna," he repeated happily.

He picked up the hot coffee and took a small sip, still smiling. But the coffee was hotter than he expected.

"Ouch!"

He gasped and quickly put the cup down, his tongue burning from the heat.

Luna immediately hurried to his side. She handed him a glass of water and placed her palm on his shoulder.

"Are you okay? Do you need some ice?" she asked urgently.

Kai looked into her eyes and noticed how panicked she seemed. He shook his head, trying to reassure her.

Luna let out a huge sigh of relief.

"Idiot! Don't you know how to drink coffee?"

Kai gripped the edge of the table, his frustration showing on his face.

"Why do you always sigh at me and call me an idiot? I'm Kai, not an idiot!"

Luna let out a soft laugh at his reaction.

"Because you are!"

Before Kai could answer, lara called from the kitchen.

"Hey, Luna! Come over here! Its burnt!"

Luna's eyes widened. She turned and hurried into the kitchen.

Kai watched her disappear through the doorway. Then he looked out of the window and smiled to himself, remembering how she'd called him an idiot yet again.

After a while, he finished his coffee and stood up to leave. He glanced towards the kitchen, hoping to see Luna again, but she was nowhere in sight.

With a small sigh, he left the café.

Inside the kitchen, Luna was dealing with a batch of burned cupcakes.

"Lara, go clean the tables. I'll take care of this mess," she said.

Lara nodded and walked out.

As she cleaned the table where Kai had been sitting, she noticed a small piece of paper beneath his empty cup. Curiously, she picked it up and carried it into the kitchen.

"Luna, look what I found!"

She handed the paper to Luna.

Luna unfolded it and read the message written on it.

'𝘏𝘦𝘺! 𝘓𝘶𝘯𝘢, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘦. 𝘔𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭'

A faint smile appeared on her face. She shook her head and murmured to herself, "Idiot."

Lara noticed her smile and giggled.

"Oh, look at that! Luna is smiling at some boy today!"

She teased Luna before walking away.

Luna remained where she was, still holding the little note. After looking at it for another moment, she carefully folded it and slipped it into her apron pocket.

"Idiot," she whispered once more.

All truly wise thoughts have been thought already thousands of times; but to make them truly ours, we must think them over again honestly, till they take root in our personal experience.
