In My Poetry

PreviousNext

From tender years, I've known the line
‎Between what's right and wrong,
‎A wrong that serves, though veiled it seems,
‎A path of virtue, how it gleams.
‎
‎The right—it guides, no shame it brings,
‎Though effort costs, my spirit sings.
‎Yet in my grasp, illusions lie,
‎Fleeting desires beneath the sky.
‎
‎I see the good, I shun the ill,
‎Yet find myself doing wrong still.
‎Where righteousness should brightly blaze,
‎I drift away, its lessons unlearned.
‎
‎Emotions surge, a rising tide,
‎And cloak the faults I try to hide.
‎For moment's ease, for passing gain,
‎I trade the truth to soften pain.
‎
‎The right—it calls, though hard to find,
‎A rugged climb for heart and mind.
‎Deep within, my spirit ache,
‎Yet flesh resists as wisdom turns.
‎
‎What I desire, I cannot seize;
‎What I resist brings me to my knees.
‎A quiet truth my soul implores:
‎To walk with God—and open doors.
‎
‎Yet this ascent, so pure, so bright,
‎Reveals His grace in fiercest fight.
