Ignorance, shoved under a blanket of self-preservation,
drowned in the silence.
The almost of being seen.
Being able to reach into the light,
only to have my hands slapped away.
Sitting in the dark, looking around.
Words.
Words flood my brain,
washing me into a river of paragraphs, sentences, letters.
They run over me,
drip through my fingers,
stream down my cheek.
The words are comfort.
They dry my tears, they pat my back.
Yet when I reach for something, anything more,
they grasp me and pull me into a cycle—
a broken record playing the same word over and over,
Climbing an endless mountain,
trying to reach the prize at its peak.
So I climb.
I climb upwards, higher and higher.
And when I reach the peak, I look around—
under rocks, around trees, everywhere.
Ignorance is there.
She grabs my hand and kisses my cheeks as she pushes us off the ledge.
Falling, falling.
Tears stream down my cheeks.
The darkness welcomes me up as if we were old friends.
Licking up my tears as if they were pure gold wrapped around heaven in a single salty drop.
Darkness greets me.
She gives me her finest towels and her nicest clothes.
She knows that I will be staying a while.
And I do.

Hello !!!
a PUMPKIN has come to review your work!
I really loved this, and it is an extremely beautiful and wonderful poem , I really like this so...i think that I might bookmark this. I don't usually bookmark works tho!!
So to start off, you conveyed the idea of show not tell in this poem!
I loved these lines a lot
WOW just wow, I loved the imagery so much
It is beautiful
Tbh, I cannot see anything to improve XD

Hello....
I really liked this. The way you describe words as both a comfort and a trap is interesting and relatable. The part where the speaker climbs all the way to the top, only to find Ignorance waiting, stood out to me.
I also liked how Darkness is portrayed almost like an old friend. The ending leaves you thinking.
Simple words, strong emotions, and some really creative imagery. The contrast is bananas in the best way.
Keep writing!
This is the most beautiful thing I've seen tonight. The poetry is amazing and the words just flow together so well, like a river. You should write poetry more often. You seem like the type of person to write poetry all the time, day or night. I wonder what inspired you to write this. Whatever the reason, it's completely mesmerizing. Thank you.
OMG youre so sweet!!!! I actually do have more poetry!! My poems, Blue Jay, and I am Winter, also you were spot on about the writing thing, I 100% am:)
also i was twelve when writing this
Of course! A little kindness makes a big difference.
I'll be using the S'more Review method today... again, again..
Top cracker: This poem is presumably about a person who is being blinded by an a woman who represents ignorance in this poem.
Chocolate bar: At first I was confused with how this related to ignorance since people chose to be ignorance but I loved how in the end it was revealed perhaps the ignorant are curious of what they are ignorant of but the ignorance (perhaps thinking she's doing good by keeping this person in their comfort zone) quickly shuts down that curiousity.
Slightly burnt marshmallow: I'm not an expert or acquainted with the technical side of poetry; I would not be comfortable acting as if I'm so I have no suggestions.
Bottom cracker: Overall an interesting take on ignorance. ✓
enjoyyyy
Hey!!! I guess I'm gonna review this one too XD
