My room was dark as burnt ash.
I sat on the cold floor, my back leaned against a strong wall, just like the heart I pretended was strong.
My knees were pulled up to my chest, my arms wrapped around them.
My heart trembled so hard that the thin layer of hope around it cracked once again.
Nothing felt different. Sitting in the dark, sobbing until no tears were left, had become my normal routine.
But today, a knife lay beside me, sharp as the pain I had been carrying.
I reached out with my shaking hand and held it.
Suddenly, I felt that I was too young to die, too good to cry, and too scared to smile.
Still, I didn't know what to do.

Hello moon1! Surprise, surprise, it's AJ here again for a review.
This is a really hard hitting poem that's all too real for some people, like myself.
I love the use of imagery and metaphors here. Clearly, this is your strong suit.
Creating the scene here and creating the mood. We immediately know something is up. I really loved the comparison to the strong wall. That's the highlight of this entire piece.
Something's clearly wrong. The thin layer of hope.
I do think you can cut the line "Nothing felt different." I don't think you need it, because later on you imply that.
Metaphor!! The desire to end this pain, to make everything better is so strong. I love this.
The sudden emotions. Suddenly feeling everything. And yet, you don't know what to do.
Leaving the question unanswered is truly the best idea. We don't know if the narrator is okay, and we don't know what's they'll do.
My one thing here is cutting "too". it's a little weird.
Overall, this is so good. You're portraying this reality so well. If this is a reality for you, I'm here to talk. I've been through this.
Keep living and writing!
AJ

They were both beautiful and so real for me.
It all flowed prettily, and has so much emotion that you can feel it.
I can't wait to read more from you.
