Will you be the moon?

In My Poetry

if you were the moon,
i would be the one
who stares at you all night,
never letting the clouds cover you.
i would be the one
who misses you in the morning sky.
i would be the one who cries with you,
smiles with you,
and laughs with you.
i would never let the stars
look at you.
i would be the one who dreams of the day where I could fly to you
and hold you as mine...
yet, i would be just happy
for having the chance to look at you,
and admire you
from far away.

Hello moon1! It's AJ here for a review. This poem is a really interesting and I love the idea of the moon. First off, I'd like to say that I think you could split it into stanzas, but it also works well all together. Truly it's author's choice.

if you were the moon,
i would be the one
who stares at you all night,
never letting the clouds cover you.

We immediately are introduced to this person that the narrator clearly cares for quite a bit. Romantic? I think so. This whole stanza is a really long sentence. I do think you could find a place to break though.

i would be the one
who misses you in the morning sky.
i would be the one who cries with you,
smiles with you,
and laughs with you.

So this person is essentially a light for them. The moon at night. I have a theory here so bear with me. The narrator goes through hard times, the night. And this person is the moon, or the light for them during these hard times. And both the narrator and the person, the moon, are someone for each other to rely on during hard times. Hence the, cries, laughs and smiles with you.

i would never let the stars
look at you.
i would be the one who dreams of the day where I could fly to you
and hold you as mine...

The third line is really long and it looks odd with the rest. I think you could add a line break between day and where. Yet, I don't think that would fully work. I'm a bit confused as to the first two lines. "i would never let the stars/look at you." I'm not sure what that means.

yet, i would be just happy
for having the chance to look at you,
and admire you
from far away.

The narrator cares for them so much that they would be happy just to look at them. This stanza is also a really long sentence. Which works with the first one. Circular.

Overall, this is a really nice piece. Short and sweet. There's a few things that could be fixed, but overall I really liked it!
Keep living and writing!

I LOVE these types of poems where anyone puts personification to anything and just makes it beautiful. This piece is a perfect example!
I specifically love the line 'I would never let the stars look at you." and "I would be the one who misses you in the morning sky"
Also may I add the great structure you put into this and the perfectttt lead up 👌
